Funeral services for Cheryl L. Pedersen (nee Shifler), age 61, of Novelty, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon, Pastor Laura Barbins officiating.
Mrs. Pedersen died Dec. 30, 2007, at Hillcrest Hospital. Born Nov. 20, 1946, in Cleveland, she lived in Shaker Heights prior to moving to Novelty 30 years ago.

She was Past Worthy Matron of Golden Rule Chapter 442 Order of Eastern Star and Past Mother Advisor of Chagrin Falls Rainbow 38. She served as a First Lieutenant, RN, U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. She was a 1965 graduate of Collinwood High School and graduated from Hamot School of Nursing in Erie, Pa. Her family remembers her for her love of quilting and sewing and her devotion to her grandchildren. She is remembered as a caring, selfless and giving person. Mrs. Pedersen owned and operated Remembrances Quilt Shop in Chesterland for over 20 years.

Survivors are her husband of 36 years, Gordon W.; daughters, Jennifer R. Franck (husband, Brian) of Mentor and Emily A. Iacchei (husband, Michael) of Bel Air, Md.; stepson, Theodore K. Pedersen (wife, Koli) of Tacoma, Wash.; stepdaughter, Karen Young of Greer, S.C.; grandchildren, Elizabeth "Libby" and Ethan; sisters, Cleone Scharfield (husband, Thomas) of Chesterland, Nancy Daniels (husband, Ralph) of Leesburg, Fla. and Karen Schroer of Oxford, Ohio; niece, Corrine Puntel; and nephews, Alfred Laudato (wife, Annie) and Phillip Laudato (wife, Joan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. Shifler Jr. and Lillian Shifler (nee Axford); stepfather, Michael Lakich; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Schroer.
Friends may call 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of South Euclid, 4600 Mayfield Road (just east of Green Road), where an Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Thank you for your continued patience while we mourn the loss of our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many. While the initial shock is beginning to wear off, the deep wound in our hearts is fresh and ever so painful.
